Attended the rally at City Hall tonight, where people gathered to celebrate the (almost) demise of DOMA and the final Prop. 8 repeal. I can't wait to celebrate the milestone with my friends at Pride this year.
For anyone still in the dark about the significance of today's legal victory, here's a short list of some of the rights now extended to same-sex married couples. I heard a lot of couples today talk about how their lives will become simpler now because of some of those rights: Veterans benefits extended to their loved ones, green cards granted to a foreign-born spouse and how they can now legally request time off to care for an ailing partner. These are no small things.
You can see some of the photos I took of the rally here.
